TJ Neely proudly served his country for over 21 years and retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in International Relations and is currently working in his second career field for the Department of Defense as a Senior Analyst on Special Weapon Systems Integration and Design Programs. TJ loves to fly planes, ride his Harley-Davidson and go SCUBA diving; "painting on canvas" was one of the things TJ always wanted to do, but never had the time to start, due to his military career and frequent deployments. It was until he met Maritza Jauregui, a renowned local artist, who inspired him and helped to unlock this talent hiding within. Today they show their work together, as a husband and wife team, at many local and regional exhibits. For the past four years, TJ has been an active member of The El Paso Art Association. On April 2009, TJ and Maritza Neely were asked to chair one of the biggest art shows in El Paso, The Western Impressions Art Show, which was held with great success at the El Paso Main Library this past August. Also, TJ created the poster artwork for this year's KCOS event "Wine,Chocolat & Chef's Showcase"
TJ's
favorite medium is Acrylic. He has been commissioned to paint different
themes, such as southwestern, military/patriotic, aviation, and abstract.
To him painting is just another way of self expression.
